TSM surprised by Team Dignitas backdoor in Game 1 upset

Ssumday’s bold backdoor worked thanks to Xpecial’s brilliant use of Redemption.

In keeping with what seems like a tradition, Team Dignitas played another almost 50 minute game Friday, this week in game one of its series against Team SoloMid.

The early game went heavily towards Dignitas before TSM began a comeback. Ultimately this comeback lead to TSM taking an inhibitor and threatening the Dignitas base that results in a team fight and a crazy ending:

Instead of helping the team defend, Team Dignitas top laner Chan-ho “Ssumday” Kim teleports into the TSM base and begins pushing towards the nexus. Suddenly, it’s a race for TSM to send someone back to save the base and Dignitas to stop them. Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg begins to back while Sang-hyun “Chaser” Lee jumps in to stop him, but is defended by Svenskeran. Just when it looks like Bjergsen will have a chance to stop Ssumday, Dignitas support Alex “Xpecial” Chu pulls off an inspired use of Redemption whose damage is enough to stop Bjergsen from backing.

With Bjergsen stopped and no one else to protect the base, Ssumday was able to easily finish off the Nexus and secure a win in a tense first game of the series. It’s certainly possible Ssumday would have been able to finish off the Nexus with or without Bjergsen, but Xpecial’s Redemption use was flashy nonetheless.
