Team SoloMid has found its replacement for AD Carry Peter “Doublelift” Peng: former AD carry Jason “WildTurtle” Tran. The team announced the move Wednesday, nearly a month after trying out WildTurtle at IEM Oakland.
The 21-year-old WildTurtle played with Team SoloMid from February 2013 to December 2015, eventually being replaced by Doublelift before moving on to Immortals. After a year with IMT, WildTurtle is back with the organization that helped make his name.
The move is a bit of a surprise, as WildTurtle’s performance at IEM Oakland wasn’t very strong. But TSM needs a temporary fix while Doublelift takes a break from professional play, and WildTurtle is obviously very familiar with the organization. Doublelift is expected to return in Summer, at which point the two AD Carries will presumably battle it out for the starting spot.
TSM is the only team to participate in every NA LCS final and every Worlds, and won its record fourth NA LCS title this Summer. A disappointing Worlds performance saw the team bow out in the group stage, however, and the organization will be looking to improve on that this season.
With the move, TSM’s roster for the start of the 2017 season has been set:
- Top: Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell
- Jungle: Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen
- Mid: Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg
- ADC: Jason “WildTurtle” Tran
- Support: Vincent “Biofrost” Wang
