The Mid-Season Invitational is headed to Vietnam and Taiwan for 2019

We’re going back to Asia!

Riot Games

We finally know where this year’s Mid-Season Invitational will take place: Vietnam and Taiwan. This is the first time Riot has brought a professional League of Legends international tournament to Vietnam, though a part of the 2014 World Championship was held in Taiwan before.

This year’s MSI tournament will look a lot like the previous year’s with the top teams from the world’s numerous domestic leagues heading to Hanoi to take each other on. The tournament will include a play-in stage, where some of the world’s smaller regions will compete for a spot in the main event. The group stage will move to Ho Chi Minh City, then to Taipei for Semifinals and Finals, where the remaining teams will face off for bragging rights, a piece of the prize pool, and the title of the best team in the world — at least until Worlds 2019.

Last year’s MSI tournament was hosted throughout Europe in both the former EU LCS studio, now the LEC studio, in Berlin, as well as at the Zenith Paris in Paris. During that tournament, the finals came down to Royal Never Give Up and Kingzone DragonX, with RNG ultimately coming out on top.
