MSI 2018 had around 20 million concurrent viewers at its peak

That is a lot of people

Riot Games

Riot Games released the numbers behind the viewership for the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational, stating that there were around 20 million concurrent viewers at its peak during finals.

The finals was the high of the tournament, which saw around 11 million concurrent viewers on average across the 16 different platforms. The tournament was also broadcast in over 15 different languages.

Riot also noted that some media outlets also reported other, incorrect, numbers shortly after the event, but these numbers should always be taken “with a grain of salt,” since they use different metrics and can sometimes not be the most accurate.

The final series between Kingzone Dragon X and Royal Never Give Up was an influential game in League of Legends history as it led to the fall of South Korea as the top nation in international tournaments. RNG took the series 3-1, giving legendary ADC Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao his first international championship title.
