A hectic 2017 Mid-Season Invitational comes to a close Sunday in Rio, when Korean champion SK Telecom T1 takes on European challenger G2 Esports. The best-of-five series will start at 2 p.m Eastern, or 3 p.m. local time in Brazil.
SKT is the defending champion at MSI and has looked nearly unstoppable in its path to the final, going 8-2 in the group stage and sweeping Flash Wolves 3-0 in the semifinals. As the winner of the last two Worlds and MSI 2016, SKT has won the last three Riot-sponsored international tournaments, and is a heavy, heavy favorite to do the same Sunday.
G2 struggled in the group stage and finished with a 4-6 record, but that was good enough to advance to the semifinals against 7-3 Team WE. G2 triumphed over the Chinese champions in a surprisingly decisive 3-1 series, advancing to its first international final ever after already filling its trophy case with domestic titles in Europe.
