9:12 pm ET — Flash Wolves defeat TSM in a convincing win that will send them through to the MSI Semi-Finals.
9:09 pm ET — Flash Wolves are up 12k gold and it looks like NA’s MSI hopes may be pretty thoroughly dashed.
9:01 pm ET — TSM has managed to slow the game down significantly which helps them keep the gold lead at only 4k, however, they still aren’t in a great place as we enter the 30th minute.
8:51 pm ET — TSM seem really unsure of which objective to focus when and it has cost them 2 towers and a kill deficit of 4-3 so far.
8:46 pm ET — Flash wolves off to a 1k lead early on mostly thanks to the first tower gold.
8:27 pm ET — Flash Wolves vs Team SoloMid Pick and Ban
This is likely one of the smarter drafts TSM has had so far this tournament. With Caitlyn banned moving to Ezreal — one of Turtle’s career best champions — makes more sense than any of the other picks they have tried so far this tournament. Flash Wolves are going to have good engage though and Wildturtle will have to keep an eye out for the Fizz Ultimates.
FW: Fizz, Lee Sin, Taliayh, Ashe, Lulu
Bans: Kennen, Ivern, Caitlyn, Jayce, Ahri
TSM: Shen, Graves, Ryze, Ezreal, Karma
Bans: Leblanc, Syndra, Malzahar, Kog’Maw, Twitch
8:08 pm ET — Team WE take an incredible game against SKT with some solid aggression and really smart building on gold leads. The double AD Carry with the Lucian mid and the Ashe AD Carry make quick work of just about everyone on SKT.
7:52 pm ET — This game does not stop! Mid lane Lucian is tearing apart SKT as WE go up 7k gold at 22 minutes!
7:36 pm ET — If the point of the Lucian pick was to show off before Semi-Finals it seems like mission accomplished through the first 6 minutes as the pick is 3-0 taking a double kill from a gank at level three then a solo kill against Faker off an early level 6.
7:30 pm ET — SK Telecom T1 vs Team WE Pick and Ban
Lucian mid! This is very exciting because it is new and interesting and is being played, most likely, to intimidate G2, which is a fun mind game. On the SKT side this composition is going to do some incredible damage and is going to look for huge teamfights.
SKT: Galio, Graves, Orianna, Ezreal, Tahm Kench
Bans: Leblanc, Ivern, Karma, Kled, Jayce
WE: Shen, Elise, Lucian, Ashe, Zyra
Bans: Twitch, Lee Sin, Lulu, Fizz, Syndra
7:09 pm ET — All the credit in the world to Marines there for fighting back in this game after the worst conceivable start, but it wasn’t quite enough as Flash Wolves take victory and force a tie-breaker against Team SoloMid for a chance at the Semi-Finals.
6:51 pm ET — To say that this early game has been disastrous for GAM would be the understatement of the year. One dive gave away an ace and a tower just after the 10 minute mark and they are now down almost 5k gold.
6:39 pm ET — Flash Wolves vs GIGABYTE Marines
The Lissandra is really the story here. She can do a solid amount of damage, and fits GAM’s playstyle perfectly. But they are going to have to play perfectly the avoid the pick potential of FW.
FW: Nautilus, Graves, Leblanc, Ashe, Lulu
Bans: Kennen, Ziggs, Gragas, Syndra, Ahri
GAM: Galio, Kha’Zix, Lissandra, Varus, Nami
Bans: Kled, Fizz, Lee Sin, Shen, Rumble
6:13 pm ET — TSM fail to capitalize on their leads and let G2 back into the game.
6:10 pm ET — G2 are finally getting their comp rolling and finding a real advantage taking Elder Dragon and Baron.
5:54 pm ET — There we go, G2 take advantage of bad recall timing from TSM and grab a Baron. However, they almost immediately ended up in an awful fight and lost Nunu.
5:49 pm ET — In theory this is probably about when G2 would need to capitalize on their composition, but it is unclear that they know what they are supposed to do with these champions? TSM are simply out rotating them to take towers and dragons and dodging G2’s only attempted engage — which so far has just been the Orianna Shockwave.
5:33 pm ET — TSM are up about 2k thanks to first blood and first tower going their way before 10 minutes.
5:23 pm ET — Team SoloMid vs G2 Esports
TSM have a ton of damage, but again are a little lacking when it comes to engage. Thankfully for North America this time G2 are in the same boat and are going to need Caitlyn to really come through for them to make the Nunu work.
TSM: Rumble, Ivern, Jayce, Varus, Zyra
Bans: Leblanc, Fizz, Tahm Kench, Fiora, Syndra
G2: Gragas, Nunu, Orianna, Caitlyn, Braum
Bans: Lulu, Karma, Kennen, Galio, Ahri
4:57 pm ET — Team WE take down GAM with an easy and quick win!
4:22 pm ET — Team WE vs GIGABYTE Marines Pick and Ban
WE: Fizz, Ivern, Taliyah, Caitlyn, Karma
Bans: Ziggs, Kennen, Gragas, Varus, Leblanc
GAM: Galio, Graves, Syndra, Jhin, Lulu
Bans: Kled, Kog’Maw, Ashe, Lee Sin, Elise
4:04 pm ET — TSM manage to take the win after a crazy game from a crazy tournament!
4:02 pm ET — TSM pick a dangerous Baron but Sven misses the Smite to a Syndra. This costs TSM an inhibitor tower for no reason at all!
3:51 pm ET — It’s been a while since we have seen Bjergsen put in a position to really make plays, but he is doing a great job of reminding us how he got his reputation this game. After saving a near disastrous fight and turning it into just a 4-3 trade for Flash Wolves, he manages to steal the Elder Drake keeping TSM alive and pulling them back into the game.
3:46 pm ET — FW grab Baron after slow and steady back and forth pushes and TSM over commits to a fight after giving up a big 6k gold lead.
3:20 pm ET — MMD keeps constant pressure on Hauntzer and manages to take first tower. This should allow Flash Wolves a little more freedom across the map with the new potential of a Galio roam.
3:11 pm ET — Team SoloMid vs Flash Wolves Pick and Ban
Both of these teams are going to do a lot of damage. While both are also fairly strong pick compositions, TSM are going to have very little engage and will need to get ahead early.
TSM: Shen, Graves, Ahri, Caitlyn, Karma
Bans: Leblanc, Rumble, Fizz, Kled, Malzahar
FW: Galio, Lee Sin, Syndra, Ashe, Zyra
Bans: Kennen, Lulu, Ivern, Renekton, Gragas
2:50 pm ET — SK Telecom T1 take down G2 in a super dominant, uncharacteristically aggressive, game from SKT.
2:44 pm ET — SKT had a bad fight top, but bounced back with a good fight in the same place that leads to a Baron this time. With an 11k gold lead it would take a major miracle for G2 to have any chance in this game.
2:37 pm ET — This is the exact opposite of the Flash Wolves game from yesterday for SKT. Peanut got going early and took over the game and trick never really had a chance. If teams are going to beat SKT it starts with Peanut.
And not drafting a teamfight comp, because you can’t make SKT teamfight if they don’t want to.
2:30 pm ET — After a slow first 10 minutes we get a big fight in the river that ends in an even 2-2 trade. But, Galio is already very tanky and that could be a bad sign for G2.
2:13 pm ET — SK Telecom T1 vs G2 Esports Pick and Ban
Yeah! Let’s start the day weird. G2 are playing an EU special Kennen AD Carry against Bang’s fantastic Twitch. SKT are going to be able to surprise G2 with huge damage while G2 are going to be hyper focused on teamfighting.
SKT: Galio, Olaf, Ahri, Twitch, Lulu
Bans: Leblanc, Ivern, Fizz, Kog’Maw, Caitlyn
G2: Shen, Kha’Zix, Orianna, Kennen, Karma
Bans: Lee Sin, Graves, Syndra, Elise, Rengar
The final day of the Mid-Season Invitational Group Stage kicks off on Sunday with two semifinal spots still open. Meanwhile, SK Telecom T1 and Team WE have already qualified for their spot in the next round of the international tournament.
Of the four remaining unqualified teams, each has a chance to reach the semifinals, as well as a chance to end up in a variety of tie situations with their fellow teams. Each of the teams technically control their own destiny, as winning both of their games today would guarantee any team advancement.
North America’s Team SoloMid will face off against Flash Wolves and G2 Esports, both teams they are currently even with in the standings. While both will be pivotal for the tournament, the G2 match, which could the match that decides the fate of both EU and NA in the tournament, will have some extra bragging rights attached.
Each match up during the Group Stage will be a best-of-one, with the top four teams advancing to the Semi-Final round.
