The 2019 League of Legends World Championship anthem, ‘Phoenix,’ is here

It’s finally here!

The new anthem for the 2019 League of Legends World Championship finally released today.

“Phoenix,” a song by Cailin Russo and Chrissy Costanza, has been posted alongside a cinematic featuring Karma, Irelia, Lissandra and several pro League players. The champions and the players both are forced to face their inner demons throughout the cinematic.

This is Costanza’s second time being featured in the Worlds anthem, as her band, Against the Current, also performed the 2017 anthem, “Legends Never Die.” This year’s anthem has been heavily anticipated, as it’s usually one of the highlights of the event.

Past Worlds anthems have been performed by Imagine Dragons, Nicki Taylor, Zedd, The Glitch Mob, Mako, and The Word Alive. Bobby of K-pop group iKON also performed a remixed version of the 2018 anthem, “Rise.”

We can expect Costanza and Russo to perform the song live at the Worlds Opening Ceremony before Finals, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Update: The official version of the song, along with the music video has been released. The article has been updated to reflect this.
