This year, Riot is finally doing what many other esports are doing: rewarding players who watch the professional games.
To get the rewards, you just have to log in to your League account through LoL Esports, and then watch the games there. The LoL Esports website uses both YouTube or Twitch players on their site, so you can use whichever you prefer. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to see the chat for either site. Instead, you’ll be able to track gold, kills and all that good stuff on the right side.
Here’s some handy facts that Riot Katana confirmed on Reddit:
- As long as you’re signed in and watching through LoL Esports, watching on mobile and Chromecast should give you rewards.
- Riot is looking into expanding to other platforms for the future.
- You won’t need to accept any missions in client before you start getting rewards for watching.
- Ad blockers may affect whether or not you get rewards, so it’s likely best to just turn them off for LoL Esports.
The missions begin on September 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. ET and go until November 11, 2018 at 2:59 p.m. ET.
