Riot held it’s Group Draw show on Tuesday, and once again we were treated to a wide variety of groups that should make for some fantastic play once this part of Worlds begins.
During the draw, all of the teams that were automatically qualified for the Group Stage were drawn from a few different pools ultimately making for four groups that each have four teams, with no teams from the same region in the same group.

Every year has a group of death and this year it’s Group C, which might be the strongest World Championship group we have ever seen, and that’s before the team from the Play-in stage is added.
Meanwhile, North American teams are in groups that should give them a good chance to advance. With Immortals, first place may be out of the question, thanks to Longzhu Gaming, but second is well within reach. For TSM, on the other hand, first place is certainly something they could achieve!
Each group will get one more member from the Play-in stage. Each of the groups will play each other, with the top two teams moving on to the elimination stage of the tournament.
The 2017 World Championship kicks off with the Play-in stage on September 23.
