Thanks to Riot’s rules on roster size, SK telecom T1 will only be playing Heo “Huni” Seong-hoon in the top lane at the 2017 World Championship.
During the LCK Summer Split, SK telecom T1 used two different substitute players consistently. In the jungle, starter Han “Peanut” Wangho, and sub Kang“Blank” Sungu shared the role to great effect often switching in the middle of series. In top lane, however, the team started substitute Ui “Untara” Jin-Park throughout most of the second half of the split.
While fielding a roster of at least seven players was more than acceptable, at the World Championship, Riot has limited the number of subs that teams can have to just one, forcing SKT to decide between their players.
Ultimately, the team chose to go with Huni as their only top laner, while bringing both junglers who have already proven themselves capable of sharing the role effectively.
