The stand out performance of Game 1 of the 2016 League of Legends World Championship came in the form of Olaf as played by CLG’s jungler Jake “Xmithie” Puchero. Xmithie’s Olaf dominance on the champion started early with a ninth minute gank on the bottom lane where he picked up a kill and an assist and helped give CLG the lead in the game.

His performance on Olaf marks a strong start to worlds for Xmithie as he had the highest damage at 15 minutes of any game he has played all year. That helped him jump out to a 5/0/3 KDA at twenty minutes, giving him an almost two thousand gold lead on G2’s jungler Trick. This early lead helped propel CLG to a decisive 33 minute win against G2, and earned Xmithie player of the game honors with his 6/0/5 performance.
This kind of performance is also likely to affect the way teams plan to pick and ban against Counter Logic Gaming in the upcoming matches at the World Championships. One of his signature champions, Xmithie played Olaf once during the Summer Split Playoffs and ended the game with an impressive 11 KDA, earning an Olaf ban in all three games during the Semi-Final series against Team SoloMid.
