New Karma skin: Conqueror Karma will partially fund MSI prize pool

Another Karma skin? Yes, but there’s a reason for it.

Similarly to how a cut of the money raised from Championship Zed went to the 2016 World Championships prize pool, Conquerer Karma will help prize the 2017 Mid-Season Invitational.

The new skin was announced on Tuesday with the start of the 7.8 Public Beta Environment Cycle.

The red tones of the skin are similar to the Challenger skins we’re used to seeing at the start of the season, though there is something regal about the new line. Contrasting the Championship skin line’s blue and silver, we now have the gold and red Conqueror skin.

The skin is tentatively priced at 975 RP and it will have sweet new particles and a special recall.

The loading screen slice also has an interesting special border. Borders like this are normally only obtainable by having a special version of that skin, typically from buying the skin before a certain date. There’s no confirmation on how to get this sweet border yet, though.

The last Karma skin released was Winter Wonder Karma in December - and some believe that it’s too soon for another skin for the champion. However, Riot Katana has noted that Championship (and now Conqueror) skins are based on champions seen in the competitive scene. Karma made a splash at Worlds 2016, so she gets the new skin.

The Conqueror skin line is going to be the new yearly skin to help support MSI. Previously, the Challenger skins were made to celebrate the start of the season, though Riot does not plan to create any more of these and will be sticking to the Conqueror line instead. (Do not fear - Challenger Nidalee and Ahri will still be returning to the store once a year during MSI season.)

This skin is expected to launch when patch 7.8 goes live.

This post will be updated as more information becomes available.
