Patch 7.14’s lethality changes explained

More lethality and less attack damage on everything!

Lethality needed changes. Originally meant to be a tool for assassins, it quickly became a stat that people didn’t really care for when the “Ooh! New thing!” hype ended. These changes to lethality should make it a better choice for assassins.

Patch notes can be kind of intimidating when explaining new things. Here’s a quick breakdown of all the changes we got.

Base changes

Lethality now gives armor penetration based off of your level and completed lethality items give more lethality and less attack damage. Lethality items also no longer give out-of-combat movement speed except for Youmuu’s Ghostblade.

Poacher’s Dirk and Serrated Dirk

After you kill an enemy, your next spell deals 40 bonus damage to every enemy it hits, with a 30 second cooldown.

Duskblade of Draktharr

The item’s cost has been reduced to 2900 gold and it now builds out of Serrated Dirk, Caulfrield’s Warhammer and 700 gold. It now gives 18 lethality and 55 attack damage.

Duskblade also now grants 10 percent cooldown reduction and Nightstalker (the passive) now slows enemies by 99 percent for .25 seconds.

Youmuu’s Ghostblade

Ghostblade now gives 40 out of combat movement speed, 18 lethality and 55 attack damage.

Edge of Night

Edge of Night now builds out of a Serrated Dirk, Pickaxe, Ruby Crystal and 725 gold. It, like everything else, gives 18 lethality and 55 attack damage now. It also gives 250 health, but doesn’t give magic resist anymore.
