Rengar update details: New ability kit after the rework

More like new ability kitty ... am I right? Is this thing on?

Riot Games

Of the four assassins that are receiving major updates this preseason, only one of them isn’t primarily a mid laner. That would be Rengar, who received a whole heap of changes, especially to his passive, Q and W abilities.

For starters, his Q is now a skillshot, which causes him to lunge if cast outside of the max attack range. His passive also has a bunch of changes, reducing Maximum Ferocity stacks to four, increasing his leap from bushes and redesigning his Bonetooth Necklace reward system to give him more attack damage.

The change that will probably catch most people’s eye is that to his W. Rengar’s empowered W now operates as a cleanse, removing crowd control effects and preventing incoming ones for a short time.

Rengar’s ultimate has changed a bit too — it only reveals the champion closest to him, and he can only jump to the closest enemy champion. If he does pull off the jump, however, a critical hit is guaranteed. The idea is to increase counterplay and general information for the enemy team while providing a greater reward for Rengars who can pull it off.

You can check all of his abilities out right here in the new champion spotlight:

Here’s the kit, via SurrenderAt20:

Unseen Predator (Passive)

While in brush, Rengar leaps at his target with his basic attack. Leaping to enter combat generates 1 Ferocity.

At 4 Ferocity, his next ability is empowered. Casting an empowered ability increases Rengar's Movement Speed 1.5 seconds.

Killing enemy champions awards trophies on Rengar's Bonetooth Necklace.

All Ferocity is lost upon exiting combat (represented by Unseen Predator's cooldown).

Savagery (Q)

Generates 1 Ferocity

Slash all enemies in an arc before piercing all enemies in a line.

Ferocity effect:

Each hit deals more damage.

If cast outside max range, Rengar lunges forward to extend the range of the piercing attack.

Battle Roar (W)

Generates 1 Ferocity

Deals magic damage to nearby enemies and heals Rengar for 50% of the damage he took in the last 1.5 seconds.

Ferocity effect:

Deals magic damage, removes existing crowd control effects, and prevents incoming ones for 1.5 seconds, in addition to its normal effect.

Damage healed from monster attacks is increased by 100%.

Bola Strike (E)

Generates 1 Ferocity

Throw a bola, dealing physical damage and slowing the first enemy hit for 1.75 seconds.

Ferocity effect:

Deals physical damage and roots the target for 1.75 seconds.

Thrill of the Hunt (R)

No Cost

130/100/70 sec Cooldown

Rengar's predatory instincts take over, causing him to Camouflage.

While active, Rengar gains 40% Movement Speed and vision of the nearest enemy champion (within a certain range), who he can leap to for a guaranteed critical strike. Attacking or casting most spells ends Thrill of the Hunt.

Stealth - Camouflaged: This character is hidden from view. It is revealed by nearby enemy champions and turrets.
