Kleptomancy is for the pokey champions out there. Champions who have any kind of ‘use an ability and then auto attack’ combo is perfect for this rune. The more you attack your enemies the more you steal.
What does it do?
After casting an ability, your next basic attack that hits an enemy champion will steal additional gold. There is also a chance that your basic attack will also steal a consumable and insert it into your inventory.
Which runes go well with it?
Kleptomancy is a very specific kind of rune. Sure, it can be used on a lot of different champions, but it isn’t necessarily useful for all. That being said, there are some excellent rune options to help back-up Kleptomancy.
Hextech Flashtraption should help you with some added mobility over walls and getting into sneaky positions. Since we’re also taking Cosmic Insight, we can flash a little more liberally. That rune will also help us cool down the attacking abilities, offering even more frequent theft from our Keystone.
Future’s Market will help us take advantage of all that extra gold. The more gold you steal the faster you’ll be able to acquire items. Future’s Market will essentially just allow you to continually funnel gold into your build, pushing yourself far ahead very quickly.
Sorcery will be our secondary tree for Kleptomancy. Transcendence will keep our CDR in order, granting us power if we go past it and additional speed on our ability usage. Scorch on the other hand will just add some extra finishing power to these abilities.
Who’s it for?
Champions that weave basic attacks in between their autos are going to be able to use Kleptomancy to its maximum potential. If a champion can’t make that fantasy work, there are probably better runes out there for them.
You want to take this rune on champions like:
Gangplank is basically the Kleptomancy user. He is able to poke and farm gold all day long. Sona, Lux, Evelynn and Akali all have basic attack weaving built into their base kits, which makes Kleptomancy a great choice for them as well.
