Keystone Rune guide: How to use Predator

Predator is a Keystone for stealth champions and assassins. It offers you a boot enchantment that lets you move very quickly and deal additional damage. If you’re able to take a brief moment and channel the effect, your enemies will be sorry the moment you catch up to them.

Let’s take a closer look at the Predator Keystone.

What does it do?

Predator enchants your boots, giving them an active effect. When you activate the item, your champion will channel for 1.5 seconds. After the channel, gain a burst of movement speed. Your first attack while this effect is active will deal increased damage.

Which runes go well with it?

Predator is specifically for sneaky champs with a pretty fast time-to-kill. As such, we are going to take a few runes that help increase our power and maneuverability.

Cheap Shot should be a pretty obvious pick here. Most champions that would take Predator are going to have some kind of slow attached to their kit. The ability to burst down enemies before they can get away from you will really increase your lethality.

Eyeball Collection is really only a great pick here because the other two add no actual power to your kit. You want to get kills with Predator anyway, so it’s a win either way.

Ingenious Hunter is a great rune for this Keystone. As you gain stacks and get kills, your active item cooldown goes down. Since Predator is technically an active item, you will be able to trigger your Keystone even more frequently.

Precision is going to be our secondary tree for this Keystone. Because the diving playstyle that Predator promotes, we’re going to grab Triumph for sustain and extra gold. To make assassination a little easier, we’re also going to take Coup De Grace.

Who’s it for?

Assassins and stealth jerks are going to be our prime candidates for Predator. The ability to move fast should help mitigate some of assassins’ traditional problems.

You want to take this rune on champions like:

• Talon
• Evelynn
• Shaco

All of these champions have some form of stealth in their kits. Talon seems to be one of the best possible champions to use Predator on. He can stealth and just jump over walls onto his enemies. Evelynn and Shaco can come in from the bushes with a ton of speed using Predator as well, removing the small window that makes their stealth risky.
