Fiddlesticks and Volibear win reworks by fan vote

Two reworks! Two!

After an extremely close vote, two champions are getting reworks following the fan vote. The vote between Volibear and Fiddlesticks was so close that both champions are getting reworks.

Globally, Fiddlesticks got 24.42 percent of the votes, only losing to Volibear, who had 24.69 percent of the votes, by a smidgen. Riot Games also noted that the vote difference between the two in some regions were less than 100.

In China, Shyvana actually gained the most votes, and Riot said that the company would keep this in mind after Fiddlesticks and Volibear get their reworks.

Designers at Riot have already begun to brainstorm ideas for the two champions, with the gameplay designer for Volibear saying that he wants to “integrate his ‘thunder god’ aesthetic into more of his kit while finding new ways to explore the bruiser role.” The concept artist has already begun to sketch some ideas as well. Nathan “Riot Lutzburg” Lutz will be leading his gameplay design, with Justin “RiotEarp” Albers doing the concept art. Lutz is known for Malphite’s soft rework.

For Fiddlesticks, Black “Squad5” Smith, who’s the gameplay designer for the scarecrow, says that he’ll be “doubling down on Fiddlestick’s identity as THE iconic ambusher in League.” Concept artist Sunny “Kindlejack” Pandita also has a lot of potential concepts for Fiddle. Smith is known for his work on Ivern, Ornn, and Sylas.

These reworks are in extremely early stages, but Riot promises to update their progress later this year.
