It’s that time of the week again — time for another Dev Corner on the new rune system. This time, champion update designer Riot Stashu, brings us a familiar rune: Hunt of the Blood Moon. This is a keystone rune from the Domination tree, and is used by assassins to, well, assassinate people.

Enchants your boots with the active effect 'Blood Moon's Call.'
Channel for 3 seconds to activate Blood Moon's Call. Gain 35% movement speed for 15 seconds. Damaging attacks or abilities end Blood Moon's Call, dealing 60 - 140 based on level (+0.2 bonus AD)(+0.3 AP) bonus damage.
Cooldown: 180 seconds. Starts the game on cooldown and goes on cooldown if damaged or interrupted while channeling.
In the gif posted with the tease, Talon uses this rune to absolutely smash an un-suspecting Annie. Sure she had low health, and sure, a Talon in that situation at level five could have probably killed that Annie without this new rune. All that being said, it seems like an interesting way to keep mobile assassins like Zed and Talon in the game far after they outlive their usefulness.
This rune seems to take inspiration from the Hunt of the Blood Moon game mode that appeared last year and not only in name. The game mode allowed players to get the Demon Brand buff, basically turning your character into a super-speed Rengar. The invisibility may be gone, but the heart of the ability remains.
All of this is of course work in progress, stay tuned for more runes to appear in the near future, leading up to their full release this November. You can also check out a full list of the announced runes here.
