Ancient Coin no longer gives a free skill point, is more supportive

This is way better, probably.

The Ancient Coin line is one of those items that aren’t really everyone’s first choice. People would much rather take Spellthief’s Edge or Relic Shield for sweet gold bonuses.

The new update for Ancient Coin in patch 7.14 changes the quest reward from giving the free early skill point to giving your allies 8 percent movement speed when moving towards you.

Stacked with Soraka’s movement speed towards a player in need or Janna’s similar movement speed passive, teammates should be able to woosh through lanes fairly quickly to get healing, shields or maybe just the normal support they need.

While this update probably won’t bump the Ancient Coin line up above Spellthief’s or Relic Shield’s, this should definitely help the supports in game that are both bad at skillshots and last-hitting. (It’s okay. I’m like this, too. We’re all in this together, Ancient Coin users.)

We’ll miss the little potion you got in your inventory, though. That felt really rewarding to receive and while the movement speed bonus doesn’t feel as good, we’ll sacrifice feeling rewarded to help the team. That’s what support life is, anyway.
