The Mid-Season Update’s tank changes hit some champions harder than others and as a result Patch 7.11 continues to work through the fallout of those changes. This time the patch focuses on some of the champions hit hardest by the Sunfire Cape changes, continued alterations to Maokai and a rare change to Renekton.
Back in Patch 7.9, the Mid-Season Update main patch, Sunfire Cape received some significant nerfs. These nerfs hurt the champions the relied on Sunfire Cape in some cases bringing them all the way out of the meta and out of favor among solo queue players.
ATTACK DAMAGE GROWTH STAT :: 3 >>> 3.5
W - Burning Agony
DAMAGE :: 35/50/65/80/95 per second >>> 40/55/70/85/100 per second
E - Ground Slam
RATIO :: 0.3 armor >>> 0.4 armor
W - Soul Furnace
COOLDOWN :: 13 seconds >>> 11 seconds
SHIELD SCALING :: 6/7/8/9/10% Sion’s maximum health >>> 8/9/10/11/12% Sion’s maximum health
These changes should help mitigate the loss of Sunfire Cape’s damage as well as add a slightly new playstyle to these tanks that haven’t seen frequently play recently.
Passive - Sap Magic
COOLDOWN :: 30/25/20 seconds at levels 1/9/15 >>> 30/25/20 seconds at levels 1/6/11
BASE HEALING :: 10/30/50/70/90/110/130 >>> 5/15/25/35/45/55/65
PERCENT HEALING :: 4.5/5.5/6.5/7.5/8.5/9.5/10.5% Maokai’s maximum health >>> 6/7.5/9/10/11/12/13% Maokai’s maximum health
E - Sapling Toss
RATIO :: 2% target’s maximum health per 100 ability power >>> 1% target’s maximum health per 100 ability power
SAPLING MOVEMENT SPEED :: 425 + 2.5 per Maokai’s level >>> 400, changed based on Maokai’s boots:
Boots of Speed: 425
Most upgraded boots: 445
Boots of Swiftness & Boots of Mobility: 460
BRUSH SAPLING DAMAGE :: 100% on detonation, two ticks for 50% each >>> 67% on detonation, two ticks for 67% each (total damage unchanged)
BRUSH SAPLING DURATION :: 30/40/50/60/70 seconds >>> 30 (+2.5% Maokai’s bonus health) seconds
Maokai has had some trouble finding his way onto the straight and narrow balance path ever since his changes in the midseason. This patch makes changes to his basic durability stats while also continuing to nerf Saplings. Hopefully this will bring Maokai back into line with his fellow tanks.
The final toplane changes in this patch relate to Renekton. They are some of the strangest changes in any recent patch. Basically what happened is Riot made a few changes to the way that Renekton works on an underlying code level in hopes that it would improve some of his longstanding bugs. It didn’t so they are going back to the original state deciding that the bugs they had before were better than the new bugs they created.
REWIND :: All patch 7.9 and 7.10 changes to Renekton have been reverted
