Rek’Sai released in December 2014 and since release she had been pretty dang strong. After getting nerfed a couple times, she’s become a boring champion without much of an identity but Riot is planning on making some small changes to her kit to bring back the burrower we love so much.
Rek’Sai will now be able to tunnel more freely in and out of team fights. In addition to this, she’ll generate fury faster so she can gain health back and be ready to fight.
Rek’Sai marks champions she damages as prey for 5 seconds. She can target a Prey-marked enemy, burrowing before emerging from underground and leaping at her target. Rek’Sai is unstoppable during both the cast and the leap, dealing more damage the lower her target’s health is.
Her new ultimate should help her feel more like a diver by giving her backline access that isn’t merely a product of her tankiness. Now, when Rek’Sai ults, she leaps at her target—only a target she’s damaged recently—doing damage if she hits them.
Now Rek’Sai can dive in for the enemy’s backline with a more clear focus and she can get out with her tunnels easily. The goal is to have Rek’Sai be the scariest land-shark-queen she can be without compromising too much of the identity she already has!
These changes have been on the Public Beta Environment and are available for testing, but they should be coming to the live servers soon!
