The 10 ban system has been being used in professional play for an entire split now, but the system will be making its way to the live servers in patch 7.11.
If you’re not familiar with how the new ban system works, it’s not the same as the one we see in the competitive scene. All 10 bans happen simultaneously, letting you hover the champions to plan things out with your team.
The new ban phase is 35 seconds long and you do not have to lock in bans. Once a player locks in a ban, that champion will become unavailable to ban (similarly to how they become unavailable to pick.)
While this doesn’t seem as coordinated as the ban system used in competitive, we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled for how it turns out. The mind games will be real now that each team gets two more bans. Is the enemy team going to ban Yasuo or should we? They definitely will right?
Because more champions can be banned, all players now must own 20 champions (instead of 16) in order to play ranked matches.
The 10 ban system will be coming soon to all regions during the patch.
