League of Legends esport passes will give players extra missions and special loot

And 50 percent of revenue will go back to the esports scenes

Riot Games

On May 31 Riot Games is launching two passes that reward players for watching competitive League of Legends and playing games.

There will be two types of passes. The Fan Pass is for players in Brazil, Turkey, Latin America, Japan, and Oceania. The Team Pass is for North American and European players. Both passes unlock viewing and gameplay missions to complete for loot, though the Team Pass has team-specific loot and the Fan Pass rewards more generic loot, like an icon of Teemo cheering.

Both passes cost 980 RP and include Blue Essence, key fragments, and two Masterwork chests, as well as the ability to unlock an icon, emote, and ward skin. They also both come with a chroma for Dragonslayer Braum. The Team Pass gives an “LCS or LEC” chroma, though we’re unsure of what that looks like in comparison to the chroma skin from the Fan Pass.

The most important part about these passes is that 50 percent of the revenue goes back to the region’s esports scene. This is an extra way that players have been asking for to support the LoL esports scene and it’s finally here, just in time for the start of the 2019 Summer Split.
