The match up between Samsung Galaxy and SK Telecom T1 is quickly becoming one of the most interesting in Korean League of Legends.
The rivalry began, in earnest, at the 2016 World Championships, SKT took down Samsung in a nail biting best-of-five Finals. Since then, Samsung has largely dominated the rivalry, including winning both of the two team’s match ups during the Summer Split. This will be the first time the teams have had the chance to go head to head in a longer series since the World Finals.
The match will come amidst a season full of struggles for SK Telecom T1 as they entered playoffs as the second to last seed, and still have a long road ahead of them to reach the finals. Samsung, on the other hand, were right in the thick of the hunt for first place in the Summer Split, with only a loss in their final match against Longzhu Gaming moving them from first place to third.
The match was played on August 15, with the winner moving on to face kt Rolster in the Semi-Finals of the LCK Summer Split Playoffs.
