KT Rolster signs Deft

The super team is one step closer to completion.

Riot Games

KT Rolster has secured one of the top free agents on the League of Legends market, signing AD Carry Hyuk-kyu “Deft” Kim, the player tweeted Wednesday (with a new Twitter handle). Fomos reports KT Rolster announced the move in a press release.

Deft joins former ROX Tigers top laner Kyung-ho “Smeb” Song and former EDward Gaming/Samsung mid laner Won-seok “PawN” Heo as the third splash signing of the week for KT Rolster. The trio will join jungler Dong-bin “Score” Go on the roster, with a support yet to be signed.

Deft rose to fame as the talented young AD Carry for Samsung Blue from 2013-14, making the World semifinals on that squad. After the Season 4 World Championship, he left Samsung Blue for EDward Gaming in China, where he played with PawN for two years and brought a number of domestic titles to the organization — but limited international success.

KT Rolster is one of the oldest gaming organizations in South Korea, but has made only one appearance at worlds — 2015, which finished in a 3-1 quarterfinal defeat to the KOO Tigers. KT just barely missed Worlds this season despite finishing third in the Spring Playoffs and runners-up in Summer, thanks to an upset victory by eventual World finalists Samsung Galaxy in the Regional Finals.

With this series of signings, this year’s LCK season is gearing up to be a spicy one. SKT has responded by re-signing Faker to a purportedly record deal, and reports have them adding in former ROX Tigers jungler Wang-ho “Peanut” Han.
