Top laner Ik-soo “Ikssu” Jeon and jungler Tae-yoo “LirA” Nam have left Afreeca Freecs and are now free agents, the team announced Wednesday. Both players were founding members of the team and had made two straight playoff appearances, but split playing time this Summer with former substitues Man-heung “Lindarang” Heo (top lane) and Seong-hwan Yoon (jungle).
Both Ikksu and LirA still played the majority of the team’s games this summer, and finished the season with higher KDAs then their counterparts at their positions. In the Regional World Qualifiers, Ikksu and LirA each started eight of Afreeca’s nine games.
Once known as Rebels Anarchy, the team rebranded to Afreeca Freecs before the start of the 2016 season. Ikksu and LirA both made the transition to the new roster from the old Rebels Anarchy team, and the team made surprise playoff appearances in both splits with back-to-back fifth place finishes.
Afreeca Freecs is also one of the only teams in the world with a winning record against two-time reigning World champions SK Telecom T1.
