Before Team Liquid’s big match against TSM for the 2019 LCS Spring Split champion title on Saturday, we spoke to support Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in and top laner Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong via Discord.
We talked to them about the Spring Split, as well as what they would wish for from a genie.
We also talked to jungler Jake “Xmithie” Puchero and AD carry Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng separately; we asked them the same questions. You can check out that interview here.
The interview below has been edited for clarity and length. Translation was provided by Team Liquid’s assistant coach, Kang “Dodo” Jun-hyeok.
The Rift Herald: Now that the Spring Split is over, how do you feel? Do you think everyone was performing their best or were they more easygoing? A lot of people thought the split was anticlimactic.
Impact: Compared to other regions, it’s kind of like we’re making fun of NA, but it wasn’t really special. Like the other teams weren’t inting — it wasn’t anything special. I kind of expected it.
CoreJJ: I don’t have a good idea of how LCS is yet. If we win Finals and go to MSI and play against the best teams in other regions, I’ll have a grasp on how the best teams in LCS were. I want to experience the other teams first.
A recent LoL Esports article cited Impact, Xmithie, Bjergsen, and Doublelift as the NA GOATs of their role. He noted that CoreJJ hasn’t been in NA long enough to be called “the best support in NA.” Who do you guys think is the best support of all time in NA?
CoreJJ: I can’t really think of anyone right now, so I’m just going to say KiWiKiD.
Now in true Rift Herald spirit, it’s time to shift to non-esports questions. A frequent conversation at Rift Herald is discussing who we think is capable of cooking a full chicken. Like, who can cook one that’s just edible, versus one that actually tastes good. Who on Team Liquid could cook a chicken?
Peter and Jake said Impact as well, but they also said he was more of a steak person.
Dodo: Impact is the only one who actually cooks out of anyone in the house.
There’s an animal that’s native to America: the possum. It’s like a little rodent. Anyway, the mother possum carries the babies on her back, so there’s just a ton of baby rodents riding this big rodent as she waddles around, protecting them and stuff. Who on Team Liquid is the mother possum?
Impact and CoreJJ: Steve. [laughs]
When I interviewed CoreJJ in the past for Worlds, he contributed a question asking which pro player from another region would the interviewee like to befriend to my pool of questions. CoreJJ said Ming of RNG at the time. Is that still true? Who does Impact pick?
CoreJJ: Still the same.
Impact: Not interested.
Wow, that’s brutal.
Dodo: He doesn’t want friends.
Impact: You need to meet them in person to know.
If you found a magic lamp with a genie inside, what are three things you would wish for?
Impact: Right now, being able to sleep anytime I want to and being able to eat five times a day instead of three times.
Dodo: I think Impact is just very sleepy right now. [laughs]
CoreJJ: I already achieved everything. I don’t need it.
