Worlds 2018: A Lightning Round with Afreeca Freec’s Mowgli

He doesn’t like cilantro!

Julia Lee/Polygon

LCK’s Afreeca Freecs turned their rough Worlds 2018 start into a major success story, taking the first seed from Group A on the sixth day of Worlds. We grabbed jungler Lee “Mowgli” Jae-ha for a celebratory Lightning Round.

Our Lightning Rounds are filled with questions from players, fans, press, Vox Media employees and myself. We give the players about five minutes to shove their hands into the plastic jar I bought at a Homeplus, grab questions and answer as many as they can. There are quite a few League questions in the jar, but most are just random questions about life.

The interview below has been edited for clarity and length. Riot Games provided a translator for this interview.

Who is the best player from your region that isn’t at Worlds? (From Emily Rand.)

Mowgli: Khan from KING-ZONE.

What is one food you would never eat?

Mowgli: Cilantro

The Rift Herald: Does it taste like soap?

Mowgli: No, it just doesn’t taste good.

What was the most memorable moment of your pro career? (From Cloud9’s Blaber.)

Mowgli: During the spring playoffs, we had to beat kt. I was in that game and we won 3-0 and made it to the finals.

What is your go-to food after a night of drinking? (From Ashley Kang.)

Mowgli: Because I’m thirsty after, I have gal-amandeunbae (Korean pear juice).

[Ed. note: This is also considered a hangover cure by some!]

Who is the messiest person on your team?

Mowgli: They’re all not that tidy. There is not a single player on our team who is clean.

What would you be doing now if you weren’t a pro? (From Cloud9’s Jensen.)

Mowgli: I’m 21 years old, so I’d probably be in college.

If you could time travel what time would you go to and why? (From iCrystalization.)

Mowgli: I would travel back six years with my current skills and abilities, become the top player and become famous.

What is your favorite season?

Mowgli: Fall

The final task: Contribute a question to ask in future interviews.

Mowgli: What is your most difficult moment as a pro gamer?

The Rift Herald: And what’s your answer?

Mowgli: Probably a moment where your team’s not performing well and you lost.
