Worlds 2018: A Lightning Round with 100 Thieves’ Ssumday

100 Thieves won their first game in day three of the 2018 World Championship Group Stages and we talked with top laner Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho while he was in a cheery mood and ready to answer some of our Lightning Round questions.

Our Lightning Rounds are comprised of questions submitted by players we’ve already interviewed, Vox Media staff and yours truly. (Me. I’m talking about me.) Sometimes players will pull only questions unrelated to League and sometimes they’ll pull a lot of their fellow players’ questions — like Ssumday did.

This interview has been edited for clarity and length.

When you take off your socks, do you ever smell them? (From RNG’s Xiaohu.)

Ssumday: [laughs nervously] Sometimes!

What do you want to do when you win Worlds? Do you want to keep playing or quit? (From Flash Wolves’ SwordArt.)

Ssumday: Of course I want to keep playing.

If you had to name your own League team, what would you name it?

Ssumday: Um … Ssumday’s team.

The Rift Herald: -proudly- Everyone would be a fan of it.

What champion would you delete from the game if you could?

Ssumday: I think Teemo, because Teemo players are kinda different. [laughs]

Riot Games

If you had to play a different game competitively instead, which would you pick?

Ssumday: If I can choose, I’d pick a non-competitive teamwork game or something.

Which teammate would win in an IRL teamfight?

Ssumday: No one!

The Rift Herald: No one would win? Everyone would lose?

Ssumday: [laughs]

Who is your favorite Pokémon starter?

Ssumday: I like the water Pokémon ...

The Rift Herald: Squirtle?

Ssumday: Yeah, because he can learn swimming.

What toppings do you get on your pizza?

Ssumday: I get the pepperoni, mushroom ... pineapple. [laughs]

Do you like Uniboy? (From MAD Team’s Uniboy.)

Ssumday: [laughs] I’m going to like him starting now.

What champion would you be if you had to become one?

Ssumday: I’m going to be Yasuo because he looks so cool!

If you could only play one champion for the rest of your life, who would you pick?

Ssumday: I would pick Riven because she looks so cool. If I play super good, I can beat every champ.
