Worlds 2018: A Lighting Round with RNG’s Mlxg

Raise your hand if you’d be a fan of Team Lobster

Julia Lee/Polygon

As of day 3 of the 2018 World Championship Group Stages, Royal Never Give Up is an undefeated team and they’re looking pretty on track to take home the Summoner’s Cup. We pulled jungler Liu “Mlxg” Shi-Yu after his match to do a quick Lightning Round with us.

Our Lightning Round questions come from pros we’ve interviewed already, Vox Media employees and my brain. Some of them are League related, most aren’t. It’s a toss up. We’re looking to ask those really hard-hitting questions ... like, the ones about Pokémon and stuff. Y’know how it is.

The interview below has been edited for clarity and length. Riot Games provided a translator for this interview.

What is your favorite Pokémon starter?

Mlxg: Bulbasaur.

What is your favorite season?

Mlxg: Summer.

If you had to make your own League team, what would you name it?

Mlxg: [laughs] Team Lobster.

If you had to play a different game competitively, what would you pick?

Mlxg: I don’t think I could play another game competitively, because I’m not good at other games.

What temperature do you keep your home?

Mlxg: In summer, 22 degrees celsius (71.6 degrees fahrenheit). In winter, 26 degrees celsius (78.8 degrees fahrenheit).

If you could only play one champion for the rest of your life who would you play?

Mlxg: Lee Sin.

What champion would you be if you had to become one?

Mlxg: Ezreal because he’s handsome and rich.

What are you being for Halloween? (Of course, you’re making it to Finals, so you won’t be celebrating Halloween, but what would you be for Halloween?)

Mlxg: A zombie.

You have to make an impressive dinner for a partner. What are you making?

Mlxg: I only know how to make one dish, which is rice noodles. Smelly traditional Chinese rice noodles.

The final task: Contribute a question to ask in future interviews.

Mlxg: Who talks the most shit on your team?

The Rift Herald: Great question! But you have to answer it. Who talks the most shit on RNG?

Mlxg: Everyone! Everyone ties for the first place.
