2016 World Champion Lee “Duke” Ho-seong, a.k.a Invictus Gaming’s top laner, joined The Rift Herald for a Lightning Round, fresh from a win against Fnatic.
Our Lightning Round is composed of questions from pro players we’ve interviewed in the past, Vox Media employees as well as just a random assortment of questions that I thought of in a frenzy. (Which ... explains a lot, probably.)
The interview below has been edited for clarity and length. Riot Games provided a translator for this interview.
What is your favorite candle scent?
Duke: I’ve never really smelled a candle scent, but I like a calm, soothing scent.
What champion would you want your skin for when you win Worlds?
Duke: Back in 2016, I made the Ekko skin, so it’s unfortunate that I couldn’t make a Gnar skin. But since Cuvee made a Gnar skin last year, I’m not sure which one I’d pick.
What is one food you would never eat?
Duke: It’s not a specific one food, but if it’s too smelly I won’t eat it.
The Rift Herald: Like doenjang-jjigae (fermented bean paste soup)?
Duke: Doenjang is fine, but cheonggukjang (even more fermented bean paste soup) is too much.
Coke or Pepsi?
Duke: Coke.
Which country would you go to if you were to go overseas?
Duke: I’d go to a European country because I’ve never been there outside of work.
Where’s your ideal country to retire?
Duke: I’d like to retire to a country side where the air is fresh and it’s not very crowded.
What do you want to do when you win Worlds. Do you want keep playing or quit? (From Flash Wolves’ SwordArt.)
Duke: I think if I win and become the champion then I’d like to keep playing, but if I believe I wouldn't do well next year, I would quit.
Imagine you just got your milk out of the refrigerator to pour it into cereal, coffee, whatever you like. Do you shake your milk before you pour it?
Duke: I don’t like shaking in general.
The Rift Herald: Not even juice?
Duke: No.
The final task: Contribute a question to add to the jar to ask in future interviews.
Duke: If you could switch roles, which one would you play?
