Worlds 2018: A Lightning Round with EDG’s Meiko

Meiko isn’t big on cheese

Julia Lee/Polygon

EDward Gaming is doing pretty dang well with a 2-0 start in group C. Support Tian “Meiko” Ye joined us for a very exciting Lightning Round, where he answered a big chunk of questions.

Our Lightning Rounds are composed of questions asked by players we’ve interviewed already, Vox Media employees and me, your favorite(?) Rift Herald editor. We blast through the questions and try to answer as many as we can in the short interview time block we have with the players.

The interview below has been edited for clarity and length. Riot Games provided us with a translator for this interview.

If you could live in one video game universe, which would you pick?

Meiko: I’d pick Summoner’s Rift!

You have to make an impressive dinner for your partner. What are you making?

Meiko: I don’t cook! [laughs] I’d make dishes both of us would like.

What is your favorite holiday?

Meiko: Spring Festival, since we have breaks.

Do you prefer trains or planes?

Meiko: Planes because they’re fast.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

Meiko: A kitty, because they’re really free. I could do whatever I wanted and nobody could disturb me.

Which country would you go to if you were to go overseas? (From EDG’s Scout.)

Meiko: I’d choose Australia. I love animals. I’m really impressed by kangaroos and koalas.

What’s the skin you hate the most?

Meiko: Infernal Alistar.

What would you be doing now if you weren’t a pro? (From Cloud9’s Jensen.)

Meiko: I’d maybe be a college student.

What is one food you would never eat?

Meiko: Bitter vegetables and cheese.

Cake or pie?

Meiko: Cake. It looks tastier.

The final task: Contribute a question to add to the jar to ask in future interviews.

Meiko: What’s your favorite skin?

The Rift Herald: What is your favorite skin?

Meiko: High Noon Thresh!
