ROCCAT accidentally picked the wrong support and everything went horribly, horribly wrong

Nope, that’s the wrong champ- oh no.

Riot Games

For any new relatively new League of Legends roster, communication is usually a hurdle in the early stages. This was on full display Thursday, as Europe’s Team ROCCAT (with four new starters) made an embarrassing error against Misfits in Thursday’s best-of-three series.

In the first game of the series, ROCCAT locked in Bard as its support. Although it was a popular pick last season and was seen earlier Thursday in Europe during the Unicorns of Love vs. Origen series, it has not been a popular pick this season. Turns out, that’s not what ROCCAT was supposed to lock in at all, as head coach Fabian Lohmann said on Twitter after the series.

ROCCAT also neglected to use its fifth and final ban in the second game, but it’s hard to say whether that was a strategic choice or another miscommunication.

Back to the first game, the Bard pick resulted in disaster. Misfits’ skilled bottom lane of Hans Sama and Ignar picked up a 2 vs. 2 kill at level two, which is something you never see at the competitive level. Here, take in a piece I like to call “solo queue, but in LCS:”

That play was quickly followed up by this one, which pretty much ended the game before it started.

Hans Sama finished the game 8/0/7, with Ignar right beside him at 1/0/14. Misfits won the series in a sweep after an absurd ending to the second game.
