Splyce retains roster for 2017 season

Confirmed.

Riot Games

Splyce was one of the biggest surprises in the 2016 competitive League of Legends season, following up a pretty quiet eighth-place Spring with a second-place showing in Summer. The team made just one roster change between splits, bringing in Slovenian support Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle to an all-Danish lineup, but saw tremendous growth from its young core of players over the course of the season, becoming perhaps the most unlikely of the qualifiers for Worlds.

Now, Splyce gets to add another accomplishment: retaining the lineup that got it there.

All five starting players and head coach Jakob “YamatoCannon” Mebdi have re-signed with the team ahead of the 2017 EU LCS Spring Split, the team announced Tuesday. Most had already announced their return to the team on Twitter. Top laner Martin “Wunder” Hansen, the team’s breakout star in 2016, was the last to announce he was returning, doing so Tuesday.

Splyce qualified for the EU LCS out of the Challenger Series in August 2015 as Dignitas EU, with an all-Danish lineup that included three starters still with the team (Wunder, mid laner Chres “Sencux” Laursen and AD Carry Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup).

Splyce’s 2017 Spring lineup will be:

  • Top: Martin “Wunder” Hansen
  • Jungle: Jonas "Trashy" Andersen
  • Mid: Chres “Sencux” Laursen
  • AD Carry: Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup
  • Support: Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle
