LCS shoutcaster Phreak to cameo in upcoming esports episode of The Simpsons

It’s not a huge part of the episode, but it’ll be worth listening for

The next episode of The Simpsons will feature Bart and esports. While him and his team won’t be specifically playing League of Legends, the team behind the show reached out to Riot Games to portray the esports scene accurately.

LCS shoutcaster David “Phreak” Turley will also have a small cameo in the episode, according to an e-mail from Riot Games. The company notes that he’ll be acting as an announcer but won’t be in the animation or named. While the cameo itself isn’t too big, his iconic voice will likely be easy to point out among the rest of the usual cast.

Esports interviewer Travis Gafford noted on Twitter that The Simpsons producers also reached out to Team Liquid and visited their training facility to make sure their representation of professional players were portrayed accurately.

While they’re not playing League directly, it sure does look familiar. The style of the logo, as well as some of the characters on screen look somewhat similar to Janna, Dr. Mundo, and some other League champs.

This isn’t League of Legends’ first rodeo when it comes to animation. An episode of Little Witch Academia featured Cloud9 and TSM facing off in name alone. CLG founder George “HotshotGG” Georgallidis also appeared in Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited.

The episode, titled “E My Sports,” will air on March 17 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
