League’s new anime short is inspiring and adorable

This is the anime opening we’ve always wanted

Next to the “Awaken” cinematic, Riot has released another animated short to celebrate the start of the 2019 season, but with a different twist. It’s essentially an anime opening.

The story is based off of a true story about a girl named Michelle, a student who joined her university’s League club, according to the Nexus post on the clip.

The animation comes complete with a quirky and cute song performed by AmaLee. The animation was directed by Shingo Yamashita, an animator known for his outstanding works in series like Naruto: Shippuden, Birdy the Mighty: Decode, and The Tatami Galaxy. P.A. Works was the animation studio behind the clip. The name might be recognized by its work on Uma Musume Pretty Derby, Angel Beats!, and Shirobako.

This taste of wholesome anime goodness just has us itching for a real anime series about League. A show that tells the story of some kids growing close over League, while flipping between their real life interactions and champions fighting on the Rift would be undoubtedly amazing.
