Nasus buffs send his win rate soaring

Big dog hits hard.

Riot Games

With the release of Patch 6.21, a long-neglected champion received an overdue buff — Nasus, the Curator of the Sands. It was the first Summoner’s Rift buff he received all season, and it was a pretty big one, changing the effect of his ultimate from giving his bonus attack damage to giving him bonus resistances.

This change instantly made Nasus more tanky, which helps a lot for a champion that already has tremendous scaling damage within his kit. And no surprise, the buff had a big impact on his win rate, rising from 47.16 percent on the previous patch all the way up to 51.27 percent according to Champion.gg’s data of ranked games Platinum and above.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Nasus above 50 percent, and it’s not a small sample size issue, either: his play rate has soared as well, as people have rushed to play the new buffed Nasus.

With the added tankiness, there’s been a rise in popularity of a more damage-focused build, starting Trinity Force and later building Titanic Hydra and Sterak’s Gage. It’s currently the highest winning percentage build for the champion.
