Day one’s first match up will be between Europe’s 2016 number four seed Unicorns of Love and 2016 World Championship International Wildcard participant INTZ E-Sports. While the day’s second match will feature Australia's Chiefs eSports in their first non-wildcard international tournament facing off against Korea’s Longzhu Gaming.
The teams in match one will be playing for the chance to take on North America’s Team SoloMid in the Semi-Finals during day two, with the teams in match two playing for the chance to face Taiwan’s Flash Wolves. Rift Herald recently had a chance to talk to TSM coach Parth Naidu to get a little more information about how the team prepared for the tournament and handled the return of their old AD Carry Jason “Wildturtle” Tran.

Between the two series on the first day IEM will also host a show match similar to those they have had at previous tournaments which featured current and former professional League of Legends players as well as celebrities such as Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Intel CEO Brian Krzanich.
The tournament will be played on patch 6.21, the final regular season patch of 2016, and will be streamed live on the Intel Extreme Masters website. Check out the full first day schedule below.
