Meteos being traded to FlyQuest, according to his Twitter

It’s unclear if Meteos will remain in the NA LCS

Riot Games

Just hours after 100 Thieves win in the NA LCS over OpTic Gaming, the team’s starting jungler William “Meteos” Hartman, has been traded to FlyQuest, according to Hartman’s Twitter.

Late on Sunday night Hartman said in a now-deleted tweet, “just got word that my contract was traded to FlyQuest and that FlyQuest does not have an available starting position. I’m not interested in playing in academy so not sure what I’m going to be doing going forward.”

It’s worth noting that a move like this is almost entirely unprecedented in the NA LCS and has taken most of the league by complete surprise. Though 100 Thieves did announce that the team would be starting Academy jungler Đỗ “Levi” Duy Khánhin at next week’s Rift Rivals tournament, the team is currently finding success in the NA LCS at 4-2 and tied for first in the Summer Split.

With Hartman off of the 100 Thieves line-up, the team has no other jungler on the roster outside of Đỗ, which means that two of the team’s other starters will also have to be shifted off the roster, due to the NA LCS’s permanent residence rules. Because Đỗ is an imported player, either top laner Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho or Yoo “Ryu” Sang-wook — who are also both imported players — is going to have to move to the bench, or be traded from the team like Hartman.

Also causing confusion about around this trade is the way that it was announced. While the team still have yet to give official word of this trade or any others, the Hartman tweet remains the only official statement. Further complicating this is the fact that, at least according to Hartman’s tweet, FlyQuest’s current jungler Lucas “Santorin” Larsen will retain his position, though he has not been performing as well as Hartman in the NA LCS so far this split.

It’s entirely possible that there is more involved in this trade than we have currently heard, but for now, Hartman’s tweet, and his removal of 100 Thieves branding from his social media is the only thing we have heard from inside either the team.
