I know who this year’s Championship skin should go to

Hear me out.

Monday, in The Rift Herald’s office chat channel, the staff began to discuss who we thought could possibly be awarded the yearly Championship Skin. This will be the sixth such skin, and as the previous five include one for each position, it could conceivably go pretty much anywhere.

I have the privilege of being an NA LCS awards voter, and I take that responsibility very seriously. As such, I will also take this responsibility very seriously.

After much thought and careful consideration, I’ve come to the conclusion that the Championship Skin only has one rightful recipient: Ninja Tabi.

Now, hear me out. I know items don’t get skins, but have you paid attention to League this year? Ninja Tabi used to be an item specifically reserved for tanks, but the passive reduction to auto-attack damage coupled with the strong presence of AD Carries and auto-attack reliant carries elsewhere on the map means probably each of you reading this has played at least one game this year with more than five pairs of Tabi in it. Heck, I’ve seen four Tabi on a single team this year.

Even mid-season nerfs to Tabi weren’t enough to take it out of the meta, a true sign of any worthy Championship skin hopeful. According to LolKing, Tabi are still present in more than 22% of Summoner’s Rift games.

Do the right thing, Riot. Give Ninja Tabi the Championship Skin it deserves.

(Yes, I’m aware Riot has announced it will be Championship Ashe, but also I don’t care and go away).
