It hasn’t been long since the last time we saw SK Telecom T1 and kt Rolster face off against each other in the LCK Playoffs. Just a few months ago, the two played each other in the Finals of the Spring Split, where SKT took the series 3-0. But a lot has changed since then.
Since winning the LCK Spring Split, SKT have suffered a difficult couple months. The new roster that seemed near perfect earlier this year has since faltered, with the team most often benching former North American top laner Huni, in favor of the less flashy but more reliable Untara.
While their playoff matches against Afreeca Freecs and Samsung Galaxy have gone well and seem to point towards a turn around for the roster, this semifinal against kt Rolster will be the true test of whether or not SKT are back to their winning ways.
kt Rolster on the other hand are in the best shape this particular roster has ever been in. Their clean and effective style, mixed with the possibility of any single member to have an amazing game makes them one of Korea’s best teams. However, they’ve always struggled to find wins against SK Telecom, who have always seemed to know their next move before they made it, including a victory from just a few weeks ago in the final week of the Summer Split.
The series will be a best-of-five and will be broadcast at 4:00 A.M. Eastern and will be watchable on Twitch, as well as Youtube.
