Team Liquid announced on Monday that it has signed former LCK professional mid laner Son “Mickey” Young-min.
Son will replace current starting Team Liquid mid laner, Greyson “Goldenglue” Gilmer. Because of Riot’s limit on international roster spots in North America, this will cause current Team Liquid jungler Kim “Reignover” Ui-jin into a bench spot that he may sometimes rotate in from. According to the press release, the contract that Son has signed will keep him on Team Liquid until November of 2018 and he will be an important part of their ten man roster going forward.
This move comes just a month after Son was dropped from the LCK’s Rox Tigers, who were unimpressed with his play after the team failed to make the LCK Spring Split playoffs. Prior to that, Son played on Afreeca Freecs for the entire 2016 season where he was consistently in the top half of mid laners in the region.
