After starting the 2017 North American Summer Split 0-4 in the first two weeks, Spring Split third place finisher, Phoenix1 announced on Friday that they will be starting former Team Dignitas Support substitute player Alex “Xpecial” Chu.

Chu will be replacing support Jordan “Shady” Robison who will move temporarily to the substitute position. Robison joined Phoenix1 near the end of the Spring Split only playing with the team for the last three games and the entirety of the playoffs.

Starting his career as the support player on Team SoloMid, Chu is one of North America’s most experienced players with a competitive history that dates back to 2011 a full two years before the NA LCS began. Following his time with TSM, Chu played for Team Curse, which would become Team Liquid, as well as Apex which would become Team Dignitas. Chu was on Team SoloMid when the team won the first ever NA LCS Split and is the league’s all time leader in Assists.
