Xmithie picked up by Immortals

After two years on CLG, he’s moving on.

Jake “Xmithie” Puchero is moving to Immortals as a starting jungler, according to an announcement the team made on Friday. Counter Logic Gaming also announced that they will be picking up Joshua “Dardoch” Harnett as their starting jungler, replacing Xmithie.

Xmithie is most known for his Gragas and Lee Sin, and was a key member for CLG since joining the team in late 2015. After this, CLG entered their “golden age” where the team performed great all split until they lost in play-off quarterfinals.

At the 2015 World Championships, Xmithie was announced to be very briefly replaced by mid-laner Choi “Huhi” Jae-hyun due to visa issues, but the team was able to sort out the issues and he was able to play.

He went on later to help the team get second place at the 2016 Mid-Season Invitational, where CLG became the first North American team to ever beat SK Telecom T1 and as well as play in the finals of a Riot-made international tournament.

Xmithie had played for CLG for five consecutive splits, being a generally consistent player on the team. The team was the only one to not make any roster changes approaching the 2017 season, this being its first.

Immortals did far from their best in the 2017 Spring Split ending with a 8 - 10 record, with the team getting a completely new roster but never quite finding their synergy. Because Xmithie’s playstyle is dramatically different from Dardoch’s, we’ll have to keep our eyes peeled during the Summer Split to see how these changes affect the team.
