Immortals, Dignitas, EnVy and Phoenix1 will no longer be in the NA LCS

At least we’ll still see the players competing?

Riot Games

The North American LCS has officially franchised, which means there is a set group of ten teams that won’t have to face relegation. While big teams like Team SoloMid, Cloud9 and Counter Logic Gaming made it in, some fan favorites did not.

Immortals, Team Dignitas, Team EnVy and Phoenix1 didn’t make the cut, so you will not be seeing their logos in the NA LCS anymore.

Riot has not provided any details as to why specific teams were or were not chosen for franchising, but based on the decision to exclude Immortals, it seems to not be based on achievement alone.

“While we are disappointed in Riot’s decision, we remain grateful to our fans and players and the entire League of Legends community for joining us on an incredible journey these last two years. We are proud of the team and brand that our staff, players, and fans built together. We will continue to build teams and communities around the core values that we believe set us apart, and lead to deep connections with our fans. Although we are closing this chapter in LCS, we are excited about many other initiatives already underway, and look forward to sharing those details with our dedicated fans as soon as we can,” Immortals CEO Noah Winston said in a press release.

That being said, this doesn’t mean that the players aren’t going to be playing anymore. The players for said teams are now considered free agents and will find spots on any of the franchised teams.
