The unquestioned best region in domestic League of Legends is South Korea, so when the calendar turns to the LCK playoffs, you best pay attention.
Now, playoffs function a bit differently in the LCK than they do in the rest of the world. The top five teams from the regular season qualify for a King of the Hill, single elimination bracket. The top-seeded team gets an automatic berth in the final round, the second-seeded team in the penultimate round, and so on.
Second-seeded SK Telecom T1 enter the tournament having won the last three LCK Playoffs. The last tournament SKT did not win was the KeSPA cup in November 2015.
However, the team will face stiff competition in the ROX Tigers, perennial runners-up in South Korea who have won both of the past two regular season splits but have yet to come up with the playoff victory. ROX Tigers are also the first team to officially qualify for this year’s Worlds in North America.
The first round of play is a best-of-three series, while the others are all best-of-five. All games will be played on Patch 6.15 and can be watched on the LCK1 Twitch stream.
