The North American Promotion Tournament begins with Echo Fox vs. Team Liquid Academy, which means we get to watch Gwang-jin "Piglet" Chae face off against Yuri "Keith" Jew. Oh, boy!
The loser of Thursday’s match is getting sent back to the Challenger Series, and the winner will go on to duke it out with Phoenix1 on Saturday. After that match, NRG Esports will take on Cloud9 Challenger and that winner will be promoted to LCS. Saturday’s losers will face-off on Sunday, where the loser will go back to the Challenger Series and the winners will go to LCS.
You can see the full schedule and break down here.
C9C is stacked with Cloud9’s previous veteran players, like Hai "Hai" Lam, An "Balls" Le and Daerek "Lemonation" Hart. Because of this, many pros assume that C9C is just getting boosted into LCS to sell their spot for money and that they’ll repeat the cycle every split.
Either way, the match-ups for the Promotion Tournament look intense.
The tourney will be played on patch 6.14 and will be in a best-of-five format.
