Yorick's rework is so good he looks actually useful now

Alas poor Yorick, wait ... he's good now?!

Riot Games

Yorick’s new champion model was teased by League of Legends Italia earlier this week and it left us thirsty for more. Lucky for us, Riot has just released details on Yorick’s champion update today.

His kit still focuses on ghouls and controlling small minion-like creatures, but with a new spin. There’s no longer three separate types of ghouls that do different things. Instead, his kit seems to focus on split-pushing, and some of his abilities are absolutely terrifying in that capacity.

Here are his abilities, with videos in action and descriptions of what they do, via Riot’s release.

Yorick can control up to four Mist Walkers at a time. Mist Walkers occasionally spawn from killing minions and neutral monsters and always spawn from killing champions. The Mist Walkers will despawn if they get too far from Yorick or the Maiden of the Mist.

Yorick's next basic attack deals bonus damage and restores some health. If Last Rites kills a target, it creates a grave. If there are at least three graves nearby and Last Rites is on cooldown, Yorick can instead cast Awakening to raise Mist Walkers from the graves.

Yorick summons a wall of corpses that traps his target -- similar to Jarvan IV’s ult, but with corpses, and also it can be destroyed by enemies.

Yorick throws mist that deals damage, applies a slow and marks the target. Yorick and his Mist Walkers have increased movement speed when moving towards their marked target.

Yorick’s ultimate no longer temporarily revives his allies. Instead, he summons the Maiden of the Mist, a large ghoul. At higher levels, she also spawns with some Mist Walkers. The Maiden attacks independently of Yorick, but if he attacks the same target as the Maiden, he’ll deal bonus damage.

Here are his reworked splashes, too:

Yorick’s rework has been scheduled for quite some time now, so this kit announcement should be welcome news to long time League players. Yorick is not up on the PBE yet, but he should be going up later this evening for testing.
