Has your Jax been lax? Did Vayne bring you pain? Was your Zed dead? Good news! Riot Games announced that the assassins would be getting love in the form of the next class update.
Unfortunately not every assassin is being included at as part of this update. Here are the champions listed as being looked at by Riot.
It’s bad news for my Twitch sitch (last pun, promise). Riot outlines three core elements they’re looking at as part of the update. It’s worth an in-depth read, but here’s the TL;DR for you:
Essentially Riot wants to tweak Assassins to make them more than League of Legends’ glass cannons. Currently the Assassin is able to deal a ludicrous amount of burst damage, but in exchange be unable to escape effectively. Riot is changing the push and pull of Assassins to give good players a chance to escape an Assassin, but in exchange allow good Assassins to get out and lick their wounds -- rather than just die.
Perhaps the most interesting element of Riot’s update is wanting Assassins to be able to contribute to a team more. They aren’t happy with the current play trends that sees a team’s Assassin operate as a lone wolf, almost playing a different game to the rest of the team. It’s unclear how Riot plans to add a team fight element to the Assassins, but this means the game experience will change as a result — likely for the better.
