The first series of Saturday's big day in League of Legends takes place in China, with Royal Never Give Up squaring off against Edward Gaming in the LPL Finals. The winner moves on to the Mid-Season Invitational in Shanghai, joining Counter Logic Gaming, Flash Wolves, G2 Esports, and the champions of the LCK and IWCI (both decided later Saturday).
The games start at 3 a.m. ET and can be watched here.
RNG beat Team World Elite in five games in the semifinal round, while EDG swept Snake Esports in Round 2 and advanced after QG Reapers was forced to forfeit its semifinal due to a lack of an eligible mid laner. During the regular season, RNG finished in first place in Group B with a 13-3 record, while EDG finished in second at 12-4.
EDG won last season's MSI, defeating SK Telecom T1 in the finals. But Clearlove, Deft and Meiko will have a lot to deal with first in RNG's star-studded roster.
This thread will have VODs as they become available! If you're around and would like to discuss the games, please us the comments below.
